Urban policy for food sovereignty

The third issue „Urban policy for food sovereignty“ of the „Think Piece Series Food for Thought“ comes out exploring what booming cities and urban processes mean for the future of food systems. After looking into the potential of public policies, this issue analyzes how urban policy processes might be leveraged to contribute to the realization of food sovereignty, understood as “the right of peoples to define their own food and agricultural systems”.

More particularly, it elaborates how rights-based social movements and community-based organizations have negotiated space, within urban policy processes in European cities, and what lessons might be drawn for social movements and activists working on food and agriculture-related issues.

“Think Piece Series Food for Thought” comes under the initiative of Transnational Institute, FIAN International, Hands on the Land and Terra Nuova.
